Jeffrey Moose Gallery, Seattle Rotary #4 and UNICO are proud to present a special exhibit of children's art from Seattle's Rotary Boys & Girls Club in the Mezzanine of Rainier Tower, 1301 5th Avenue, from March 1st through June 1st. A reception is open to the public on Friday, April 5th from 5-7pm.

The exhibit is comprised of seven large acrylic paintings four feet by two feet, rendered on conventional ceiling tiles. The artwork features a variety of subject matter including Winnie the Pooh, Dr. Suess characters, basketballs and word themes meant to encourage kids to strive for positive goals. Digital artworks from other club members will also be on display at the reception.

The unusual medium was the brainchild of Club art staff person Luis Albizo who got the idea from a Boys & Girls Club he attended in Idaho. At the Boys & Girls Club, these paintings are on display in the ceiling. With a little experimentation, a technique was devised that allowed the panels to hang from conventional picture hooks in the Mezzanine. The artists range in age from seven to fourteen. They are: Dhakya, Nakiya, Alexandria, Zephram, Marly, Khaliya, Christian, Declan, Skip, Nasir, Sierra and Helena.

Rotary Boys & Girls Club, on 19th & Spruce Street in the Central District, was originally founded in 1939 and has been hugely successful in providing a host of services and activities for the kids in the neighborhood including help with homework, computer education, career development, organized athletics and arts and crafts. Club members have been recognized for a variety of accomplishments including a three year streak from 2009 to 2012, when Club members won prizes in a National Digital Arts competition.
