Jeffrey Moose Gallery proudly presents the Neo Pop paintings of Poulsbo artist Cory Bennett Anderson to celebrate Earshot Jazz and BIMA's October Jazz calendar. Mr. Bennett Anderson will show a group of paintings, "Jazz Greats of Washington State" depicting Washington State Jazz artists from September 14th through November 1st. A reception will be held on First Friday, October, 5th from 6 - 8 PM.

Mr. Bennett Anderson is from Las Vegas, where he was taken with the aura of celebrity and mixed his "street" style with memorable images of Hollywood's Kings and Queens. He works in mixed media: bright colors and powerful gestures in ink, spray paint and collaged text create context for the American icons we all revere, emphasizing the fantasy world we live in with them. He attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he earned a Bachelor's degree in 2009, studying art and graphic design.

First among the artists that Mr. Bennett Anderson depicted is Mildred Bailey, one of the greatest early female vocalists, who grew up in Spokane. Bailey was part Coeur d'Alene Native American and recorded three tunes that reached number one. Others are more well known, like Quincy Jones and Ray Charles. The artist has used Paul DeBarros' fine book on local Jazz history, Jackson Street After Hours, as a resource.
