Jeffrey Moose Gallery announces a holiday gift extravaganza featuring prints from Oregon’s Native art legend Lillian Pitt and Yup’ik carver and printmaker Jennifer Wood. The exhibit opens with a reception on First Friday, December 6th from 6 to 8 PM but the main event will take place Friday, January 3rd. The show runs through February 1st, 2020.
Lillian Pitt is a living Northwest Art legend whose work has been collected by the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., the cities of Portland and Seattle and collectors nationwide and internationally. She is known for her ceramic and cast glass sculpture, including masks and totemic figures, as well as for sterling silver jewelry and, over 25 plus years, a huge variety of printmaking media. In early November, she pulled some mono prints at Matrix Press in Missoula, Montana. This exhibit will feature some of those images, as well as older prints.
Jennifer Wood of Indianola is half Yup’ik, the Alaskan Costal group whose objects heavily influenced Picasso, Miro and many surrealists of the early 20th Century. Jennifer will show some off her 3D work later next year as part of the 25th Anniversary year of Jeffrey Moose Gallery, but will start by showing some prints and a couple of masks in this Holiday exhibit. Ms. Wood, who has a Masters in Education from U. Of Alaska, Fairbanks and a BA from the UW, has exhibited at Stonington Gallery in Seattle and shown her work in events at the prestigious Heard Museum in Phoenix and the Autry Museum in L.A.
A second event will take place First Friday, January 3rd from 6-8 PM. The exhibit runs through February 1st 2020.
